      *PHYSICAL TASK ASSESSMENT (PTA) PREPARATION PROGRAM OBJECTIVES* 

 

Prepare candidates for optimal performance in the DEA PTA. • Develop both anaerobic and aerobic conditioning. • Focus on proper form and technique for PTA exercises. • Provide self-assessment opportunities to track progress. • Implement de-load weeks to prevent overtraining and injuries. • Educate candidates on the energy systems relevant to the PTA. • Offer optional resistance training for overall strength improvement. • Emphasize the importance of nutrition and hydration for peak performance. • Ensure candidates are familiar with PTA testing conditions. • Promote overall fitness and readiness for the DEA Basic Agent Academy.

 

This program is split into 3 mesocycle's or specific trainikng blocks to have you fully equipped to be ready for your big day.  These mesocycles include:

 

Mesocycle 1 (Weeks 1-4) • Initial program design for PTA events. • Upper/Lower body structured workouts that mimic the movement patterns and energy systems needed to improve your PTA events. • Optional resistance training programmed. • Programmed de-load blocks to prevent overtraining. • Conduct self assessment. 

 

Mesocycle 2 (Weeks 5-8) • Middle phase of preparation which follows a linear progression model. • Optional resistance training programmed. • Programmed de-load blocks to prevent overtraining. • Conduct self assessment. 

 

Mesocycle 3 (Weeks 9-12) • Final phase of preparation devised in a linear progression model and then a taper to prepare for the “test day.” • Optional Resistance Training (ORT) programmed. • Programmed de-load blocks to prevent overtraining. • Conduct self assessment.
